Investing in a young man making waves in water polo

Education Foundation for John Vaughan

A young person who plays water polo on a local and national level for Wales was awarded £500 to support his personal professional development within his Wales Academy Training.

“To undertake water polo at this level requires commitment and dedication. I train 8 hours a week just on water polo alone with a further 5 hours a week fitness training as well as fitting in my other great passion of rugby training with the Carmarthen Quins. I also attend the Wales Water Polo Academy which is one full weekend a month in Swansea and Cardiff. On top of all of this I still put full commitment into my education and am currently achieving excellent grades of A* and A’s.

The grant helped me to improve my water polo and play at an Under 19s level. It also supported my participation in the Wales Water Polo team and helped pay for my travel to Liverpool for the Nation Age Group Competition and to the Czech Republic for the European Nations Championship.

The grant was much appreciated and has helped me to gain experience to continue with my water polo in the future.”
